Paramount plans new Murcia theme park

Paramount Pictures is looking at the feasibility of a theme park to rival Disneyland Paris in Murcia, Spain.

Regional representatives met with Paramount officials recently. The region of Murcia has been linked with potential theme park investors over the years including Disney.

And why not?

With 300 days sunshine a year, possibly the healthiest climate in the world, huge investment in infrastructure, a new airport under construction and cheap and frequent flights from all over Europe, Murcia is the perfect location in Europe.

Add to that cheap and plentiful land and one has to question why Disney chose the outskirts of Paris for its European theme park.

Disney in Paris in January or Paramount in Murcia…??

Sounds like a Mickey Mouse decision but perhaps when taken several decades ago it was difficult to envisage how the low cost fare operators would open up Spain as a destination for travel cheaper than a first class rail fare.

Murcia is experiencieng the highest growth in tourism numbers in Spain and the vast number of second homes that have been built in the last 5-10 years are a huge captive market for a theme park operator.
